Box Hill, Melbourne

Box Hill is located in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs in the City of Whitehorse about 15 kms from the Central Business District. Suburbs surrounding Box Hill include Mont Albert, Surrey Hills, Canterbury, Doncaster and Blackburn. Box Hill is located on Whitehorse Road which links Kew to Nunawading, Ringwood and the Maroondah Highway to the Yarra Valley. To the north of Box Hill is the Eastern Freeway to the city, and Box Hill is a major transport interchange for the Railway line to Belgrave & Lilydale and bus services throughout the Eastern Suburbs. The 109 Tram from Port Melbourne now serves Box Hill.

Above the Railway Station is the Box Hill Central shopping mall, and just north is the old Whitehorse Plaza which is being redeveloped. Many of the big names are in Box Hill including Target, Coles and Safeway. There is also a great market area within Box Hill Central which is the home to many footstores including asian cuisines. Station street is also the home of many excellent Asian restuarants.

Box Hill is the home to many light industries and also the Box Hill institute of TAFE. It is also the home to several high schools and the Box Hill Hawks VFL Australian Rules Football team. There are also several parks including Box Hill Gardens opposite the Hospital on Nelson Road and many walkways and cycle paths pass through Box Hill.
