At the Box Hill Lions annual Australia Day Eve Dinner held in the newly renovated Box Hill Town Hall, two apprentices from Box Hill Institute, Ryan Benfield a 3rd year motor mechanic and Julie Martella who is studying Certificate. 3 in Floristry, were each presented with a cheque to the value of $350 towards their further education.

This is an annual event to commemorate the memory of Ray Peowrie an past club member. The dinner was attend by approximately 150 member of the community including Councillor Helen Harris and Victorian Parliamentary member Robert Clarke. A speech on obesity was delivered by Professor Swinburn from Deakin University.
